I recently istalled new cabinets. I believe an envelope with important items fell behind the cabinet. Is there arelatively inexpensive means to see in a very tight space before I rip a wall out?

How about "fishing" in the general area with a piece of wire that has a 90" "hook" on the end, slide along till it seems to hit something, then trun "hook" toward wall and lift up, it may just pull up the envelope, (and anything else that may be back there)! Pray for money, and forget the envelope! Of course you try all possible combinations , because it may take several different trys to get anything up! Also make sure it goes down far enough!

Depends on the degree of access to the gap. If there is no real gap, then even the mirror from a compact won't help.
There is a tool we use, called a bor-o-scope; a flexible fiber optic shaft with an eyepiece tat works pretty well. It comes with a length of either 18" or 36", BUT they aren't cheap -- somewhere around $300.00 to $350.00.
But even if you can see the envelope, how are you going to retrieve it without removing the cabinet?

Good Luck
