Hi Bek thats ok lol.Thats what I was saying too in my question. My grandmother wants me to flip her pillowtop but im thinking that would defeat the purpose because there is just a regular mattress on the other side.:)

There are 2 types of one sided mattresses on the market. One is where you have a summer and winter side the other is a no turn mattress.

To tell them apart look at the under side of the mattress, Has it got some padding on ? If it has more than a very thin layer then it's a summer / winter variant. If it only has a very thin layer and the springs can be felt through quite easily then just spin the mattress around keeping the same side to the top.

In my past I used to be the manager of a bed shop.

If you list the manufacturer and model (shown on the label at the foot end on towards the middle you can be sure which version it is)

Indentations or "body impressions" as they are referred to in the industry are common on any mattresses, they are a result of the padding layers (on average be anywhere from 2-8 padding layers in you mattress) breaking in. You'll generally see more indentations on beds with more padding, like plush models and pillowtops. Severe sagging, however, is not normal and may be covered under your warranty. Depending on which brand you bought and the quality of bed you purchased, your mattress could have a warranty anywhere from a 1 yr pro-rated warranty up to a full 10 yr non-pro rated warranty in which the bed is fully covered for defects by the manafacturer. You'll find the big name brands, like Sealy, Simmons, Serta, etc., will have better warranties and they consider any impressioning over 2 1/2 inches a defect. Within the last five years or so, Sealy and Simmons (I can't vouch for Serta) have changed their warranties to cover any impressioning past 1 1/2 inches of body impressioning. (They are also other conditions with their warranties, namely you must have the proper support with the mattress...e.g., a matching boxspring, your bed frame must be supportive enough, and you cannot have any stains or soils on your mattress.) So you may want to check with the retailer you bought the bed from and see if your mattress might be covered under warranty, if the impressions on your bed are deep enough. For people who have no such warranty coverage, I recommend try spinning the mattress from head to toe and try sleeping in the middle of the bed to even out the sleeping surface of the mattress. Other than that, there's not much you can do to fluff the bed back into shape.

The one I have you do. There is a side for summer and the other for winter. I leave it on summer all the time and rotate it about once a month.

Only if you flip it out the window. Just do a one sixty with it. Top to bottom - bottom to top. Just hope your bed partner doesn't have stinky feet.
