Yes they bite!! Iraqi sand crickets bite the hell out of you. Ask any service person. They get in your uniform, and go at you like a little buzzsaw. I've NEVER been bitten by a cricket in the US.

really any insect can bite, if you are holding it they night think you are food and bite. If you are not holding one...it is not going to come after you to bite you or anything like that. Their barbs are not going to hurt you in any way either. A regular cricket bite is probably not very painful at all, but Jerusalem Crickets can have a pretty nasty bite!

They most certainly do. Notice the people saying no haven't any experience with crickets. They don't normally bite but I've noticed that they bite often when held in closed hands where they see no way out. All the times I've been bitten I had them closed in my hands. I've also had them chew their way out of bug cages they were held in. So if they can tunnel through cardboard they can dang sure bite ya.

Like everyone else has said, yes crickets bite. I feed them to my geckos and they'll often bite me or the geckos. The bites don't hurt very much, they're just hella annoying. As far as the barbs, I don't think these are used in any sort of offensive manner like their jaws are.
