Just ignore them! Clearly, the people who are bothering you are people who don't have even a tiny bit of an open mind! I have lots of friends who have accents (from different countries) and I don't make fun...I mean, why would I? It's no use to make fun of people! As long as you are understood, you are fine! Accents don't matter at all..in fact, it's cool to have one. It makes you stand out (in a good way!!!) and make people interested in where you are from, etc. It shouldn't be giving you a problem...it should be a good thing! Just steer clear of any people who give you trouble. They are no good anyway. There are plenty of people who will not give you trouble, and all you have to do is find them, which you will!!! Don't worry.
You might not be able to get people to stop bothing you. I'd say just don't talk to them and try to stay away. Good luck.

You could make them feel guilty by telling them how accepted they make you feel. But then if they are making fun of you, they may not feel guilty about anything. Personally, I love listening to accents, since people on the West Coast don't have one at all. It's a bit boring...Ignore them, they are probably jealous...

I bet most of what you think is making fun, is really people being amused at your accent. Most people LOVE accents, but have no idea that some people are sensitive to comments and expressions toward their accents.
Please try and remember that inside most of those people are thinking how adorable it is.

Let them laugh a bit, and then friendly ask them if they can speak Russian without an English accent.... make sure it sounds like a friendly joke (they will get the message anyway).

Well european_gal, Juz ignore them. Each & every1 living in this vast world has their own accent. To me, when a british or american speaks, I notice their accent. To them, when I speak, they will notice my accent. Accent is sumthing unique, which we can identify where they are from. Be proud of your accent, for those who laugh at you, cannot speak with an accent like you.
We all humans will be laughed at when Aliens hear us speak!
Do remember that, to God Almighty, we are all one, that is humans, & we are divided into males & females only!

Ignore them. Just be yourself. You have a right to your accent. Most people will not make fun of you. Best not to let these particular immature folk see that it concerns you.

It's a good accent.
In my schooling to become a sports teacher, one of my class mates grew up in Poland. She cried at one point and told everyone that she was always worried about talking in front of people, because of her accent. Everyone told her that she was very wrong about that... that it in fact it made her sound very unique and interesting.
