Why do they not show reruns of old talk shows?

I would love to see some of those old talk shows again,,like Phil Donahue,Dick Cavett, The Tomorrow Show, The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson,Late Night with David Letterman to just name a few. There is nothing wrong with having a glimpse into the past is there? We may be being brainwashed so slowly via various forms of media, that the only way to see what is happening to us now or is coming in the future is to study where we have been. Our past could hold the key to the answers to some of the problems we are facing in society today. It's true that you are not going to piece this puzzle together by watching a few Oprah's and a Montel from 1989 or 1994 . But when combined with all the old shows running 24-7 on a talk show cable network it would soon become obvious that we are being brainwashed. You can not see it on TV LAND or watching old movies as much because fiction is written in such a way to exaggerate reality. But old talk shows

I just want to know if it is possible that there are people in our Government who do not think it is a good idea to see an instant replay of our past in slow motion. I have noticed that there have been a few times that some old talk shows or news telecast have been re-aired, but are abruptly discontinued no sooner than they start up. I do not think this to be because we are not watching but because we are.

I don't think that this is a conspiracy so much as it is just a lack of interest by most people. It is not a bad idea though. You should pitch it to some production company, if the Food Network or the Game Show Network can pull ratings surely a network with old talk shows could find a niche.

Perhaps media broadcasters don't think there is an interest in talk shows from way back when.

Society doesn't have an overall feel of learning about it's past or reusing....it's all buy, buy, buy....and the want is always something shiny and new.

Just a thought.

I think they have some of the Carson shows on DVD. I think they are busy with trying to tempt people with new stuff. They may believe that the old stuff would be so outdated that it would not draw ratings. Besides most of those shows real reason for being on was to be very current event oriented. They are outdated now. If you want to see them, buy the DVDs.

I like the old shows. One night I surfed though 80 Chanel's and finally ended up watching "Leave it to Beaver" on TVLand. I would like to see old talk shows, also.

I don't know why you'd think the government would not allow it!

Good question, everything else is rerun. I never thought about it, maybe they aren't replayed because they usually have the same topics over and over.

We are all psyched, from the time we are old enough to think under another control other than our own imagination...
