Get them adjusted becasue new belts stretch. This is what it says in the manual. I though belt tensioner was supposed to do this for me? I wonder if the dealer would charge me to do this

ah thanks for the info for the timing belt. i don't really know what a belt tensioner looks like, but since the manual says to have the drive belts adjusted after a couple weeks (but doesn't mention anything about this for timing belt), i'm assuming that the drive belts don't have a belt tensioner and only the timing belt does, therefore i will need to have them adjusted after a couple weeks. thanks

Timing belts require no such adjustment because they utilize a belt tensioner.
Now being that you mentioned the belt tensioner, i will assume that you know what they are and what they look like. So do you have a belt tensioner on your engine for your drive belts? If so, leave them alone too, no adjustments are necessary.
Good Luck...........

Regular scheduled service recommends the belt be changed every 60,000 miles or four years, whichever comes first. If the belt is still original and is 14 years old now, I would definately replace it now. If it has been done in the last 3 or 4 years, it should be Ok for a little more service, then get it done sometime next year or sooner

Just say when I start my car first thing in the morning the belt screeches. You just did a $750 dollar timing belt and drive belts fix it. Because it hasn't been thirty days yet.

Follow the manual's instructions. I'm sure that your dealer may charge you, but give them a call to find out for sure.
