Depends on the job industry your applying for. But the safe bet is always go business casual. Blue, grey, or black bottoms with a nice collared shirt or a sweater.

I'm a Recruiter for a Human Resources department and I would advise you to dress business casual because you never know, the manager may want you to do an immediate interview and you always want to look your best, just in case. Always remember that first impressions are everything. Most people that I see for walk ins wear nice dress pants, in black, navy, grey or khakis, and nice button down dress shirt in one of those colors I named or light blue and either dress shoes or buisness casual shoes.
In your case, I think the pinstripped pants would be ok but I probably wouldn't wear the green sweater because that color is not really considered professional, but maybe wear a white dress shirt instead because you can never go wrong with that. Good luck!

When handing out your resume I always say, "Dress for success". It never hurts to look your best when you are making job search rounds. Suppose they are interviewing when you go around to submit your resume and you are asked to interview right then and there? Be clean, and dress depending on the job you are looking for. If you want office work, then dress and groom as you would as if you were coming to work THAT DAY! Do not show up in jeans and a tee shirt if you want to work in an office, if you are going for a fast food job then jeans and a tee shirt may be fine (as long as you are clean and well groomed). If you are looking to work in a factory then I would still try to dress nicely. Many factories supply uniforms so if you were asked to go to work immediately, you would not have to worry about messing up your nice clothing. It may not be necessary to wear a suit for a person who wants a factory job, but slacks and a nice shirt and maybe a nice jacket, shine those shoes and be clean (no matter what you wear clean is important (as is good breath). You never know when the boss may pop out of the personnel office and catch sight of you and be interested because you do not look like a bum!
Good luck, and don't over do colognes/after shaves some people think others use too much of that kind of thing to cover up a body that may not be clean. Fingernails, teeth and hair should all be well groomed, if you have tattoos cover them up...a piercing doesn't do much to impress many employers either if you are serious about getting a job...Always put your best foot forward!

I agree with crucianko...It depends upon what the job industry is and what type of job it would be. To be on the safe side, I usually will dress nice so as to make a good impression. That would be khaki or dress pants and corresponding shirt/blouse.

No matter what you wear, be sure you are neatly dressed, nothing sloppy looking I mean. When you are looking for a job, unfortunately first impressions are important and if you make a "bad" one it will be just as memorable as a "good" one so keep that in mind. Good luck in your job search.
