Go to the party wearing the numbers and caps of your favorite baseball/football team. It could be a costume that could easily be worn over and over as you go to the games during the season...
And, don't forget the hot dogs when you go to the party.

If your parents are going to be there you could dress up as your mother and he could dress up as his father...or even funnier would be to reverse....he dress as his mother and you dress as your pa! Or dress as your kids. Or two of you dress as parents and the other couple dress as the two of you as kids.
