Gestation weeks are based on LMP (last menstruel period). A pregnancy is 40 weeks (or 10 lunar months) from the first day of your last period. A lunar month is ten 28 day cycles. Therefore a pregnacy is 280 days long (again, from the first day of your last period). Another way to calculate due, and the easiest way is you take the first day of your last period (for example Sept. 15) and subtract 3 months (June 15) and add 7 days (June 22nd) So June 22nd would be the due date.
Hope this was helpful!

Good luck with your pregnancy!

think of it like this.....the doctor asks you "when did you start your LMP (last mentrual period), they figure that in a normal cyle you ovulate 2 weeks after you first started your period.....so your egg would be fertilized 2 weeks after you started your period.......this makes the gestational time 2 weeks later....which is when the egg ad sperm meet and begin to grow

the doctor will track from your LMP....until you have an ultrasound...then by the measurements she may or may not change the due date by a few days (not everyone ovulates the exact day theyre supposed to!)
