Does anyone know of an education attorney that would take a big case on pro-bono? If so who, and where can i reach them?

I can't answer on the pro-bono part, but the best organization to go to with educaional issues is PACER. Find the local chapter where you are, and they will set you up w/ whatever help you need.

An attorney has to be registered to practice in whatever state the case will be filed in. So just asking for a name online won't help much. My advice is to contact one of the parent advocate groups in your state and ask who they can recommend. You can also do a google search or use the yellow pages to get contact info for your state bar association..they can give you a list of lawyers who practice educational law. Just so you know, most schools have several cases filed against them at any given time..it can worth seeing if any of you have the same issues or problems and banding together in a class action suit. I know very few educational lawyers who will go pro bono unless the case will have a huge impace on the school district as these cases can drag on and on as the school tries to delay in hopes the parents will just give up. So be prepared for a long battle. Finally, one last thing to consider may be ACLU...the right to a free and appropriate education is considered a civil liberty, so they may be willing to help out, even if it is just to find the appropriate attorney. Good luck
