... For example, I have seen men from NY move to KY and say that they are "tougher" than us because they "saw life on the streets" or "their homies got shot." It makes me sick to hear this condescending cr@p. How do you deal with individuals like this?

i usually just give them a very odd look , like I AM BETTER THAN THEM and then i say nothing at all.. it make them wonder what i meant and feel a little stupid at the same time.... i think that they want us to comment or ask questions so they can tell us about all the tough guy things that they did or claim that they did ... SO WHAT .... WHO CARES..if they are so tough and things were so great ... GO BACK....

U ignore them. Everyone has dealt with things that make them who they are. Personally, I think a person who has dealt with things are deeper, and have a lot of good advice to give. But no one is truly a judge on who's tougher. U never know what u can/will do unless ur tested, and what u do defines a portion of who u are. I'm from Houston and I've seen stuff on the news that basically started eroding my compassion. Then I moved to Reno and all that I started to loose I got back, because it was a smaller town, and at the time of my move, the worst thing that happened here was a brush fire that got out of control, whereas in Houston, ppl were dying in various ways every news cast. But now, Reno's catching up to Houston...but dad rarely watches local news anymore, so maybe I actually have a chance of dying sane.

Ignore them and let the next person deal with them because there is no need to even stoop to their level. Those who have really seen life on the streets don't go around boasting about it or feel the need to continually bring it up.

Girls who move from England seem to think they are way smarter and cooler than everyone else- well at least most of the girls I have dealt with from there.

yes, i am right now. my boyfriend lived in Israel up until about 2 years ago. when i met him he was so nice, but lately he just makes up excuse after excuse about how hes so tough because he grew up poor and had to grow up quickly. i believe he is tough but everyone is tough in their own way. i know that im tough in the way that ive went through a lot of things emoitonally. so if you know someone like this, dont take it personally.. take it in stride. its not always bad.

They are looking for acceptance, and trying to fit in. Kindly answer them "none of that matters here" and walk away.
