America was settled by the Puritans. Puritans held that any form of pleasure was a sin, especially sex. Sex was a necessary evil for us to have children. Violence was considered OK since violence didn't involve sensual pleasure.

Those values are still present in American society today. That's why someone who has lots of hangups about sex is labeled "puritanical."

I agree that movies are way to violent for the good of the human race. That is why I don't watch much violence even on TV. I don't think it is healthy to see violence. I think what we see tends to have an effect on us. If what we see is negative it will have negative effects on us. The more we see that is negative the more we get changed for the negative.

Immoral behavior whether it is sex or violence is damaging to watch.

because you're all aggressive sexually repressed people with messed up priorities. if there was less violence on TV and more sexuality not only would Americans be healthier mentally and physically there would also be less school shooting massacres

Because parents are embarrassed to talk about sex and angry about violence. Embarrassment is a more powerful emotion than anger.

A paradox.

One reviewer noted that the violence is of course always simulated, but even "simulated" sex is basically filming two people having sex.

I dunno. If you showed "simulated sex" scenes in a movie at an office, everyone would sue for harassment.

Whatever.
