In fact for many people (primarily in the USA) circumcision is deemed to be both essential and desirable. It isn;t that htye have any solid medical grounds; more that it is waht they are used to and what they find pleasing. However, the same could be said for breast size - possibly most men prefer women with big breasts thus to please them, all women shoudl have surgery to make them bigger - again not medically necessary, just to be pleasing to the eye of the majority.
Cleaning, cancer, STD's and all the other reasons cited for trying to justify circumcision on medical grounds are about as valid today as the reasons used in the past (which were it prevented masturbation, cured epilepsy and a host of others that have proven ridiculous). Besides, if a man never learns how to keep it clean it will get dirty and smelly whether it is cut or intact. If a man has lots of unprotected sex, he will undoubtedly get an STD.
So, other than when circumcision is medically necessary due to some real (not possible) problem, I say leave the choice to the man.
And for parents who think their son will be cleaner, why not get some information on how to wash a penis and teach your son to keep it clean. And then teach him about STD's and how to avoid them. Or is it just easier to pretend none of those problems can exist if yoru have him foreskin cut off. Or are you too embarassed to talk to your sons about their penises and how to care for them?

My BF, for a start. He hates that it always stuck in his zipper or something because there's nothing to protect it. Plus he is less sensitive, so that sex and oral sex don't feel as good for him as for an uncut guy. And it makes no real difference, but there is a tiny difference in size as a consequence and men are quite concerned about that. He's a very clean guy, and there's no way he would have ever have allowed himself to get smegma.
I agree with you: it's unnatural and unnecessary, and should be considered child abuse. God knows what psychological trauma it causes to circumcised men.

Circumcision for girls is no comparison to that of men. On girls, their sex lives are totally destroyed. On men, their sex lives are enhanced. Getting circumcised is also a religious right in the Jewish and many African nations. It's a minor operation and is no infringement on a person's rights. Later in life, a lot of women prefer the cleaner look of a circumcised penis.

Why does it bother you if the parents decided to do it or not.. You aren't a male?
My sons foreskin was tight and the opening was to the side instead of where it should be, so when he got an erection it just pushed against it and caused him pain, his wee came out the side and he would be pissing on someones leg if I hadn't decided to have him circumcised.

At birth I was not circumsized. Due to a problem that I had well actually something that my ex did to me I had to be circumsized. To tell you the truth I wish I was circumsized at birth it is a lot better. Easier to keep clean and it just looks better... the foreskin just got in my way so I'm glad that I got circumsized.

I don't think it would be an issue to create deep resentments. It does make hygiene easier though.
