I know self discipline is learned, but how?
How do you learn to be organised?

You need to set yourself goals and work towards them. Self discipline can only be learned through forcing yourself to do things you don't want to at given moments of time. I still have some trouble getting myself to study or research for papers from time to time, but once the deadline starts to approach, I always get things done. One trick I've learned over the years is to make sure you're away from potential distractions that make you waste time doing something else instead of studying. So let's say you usually try to study in your room, on your desk, in front of your computer and you always find something to do on the net as you're trying to study. Either turn your computer off completely or disconnect your web connection. If you're trying to get research done and you need the internet, spend a few minutes to find some good websites, leave the browser windows open (or save the sites if you want) and disconnect yourself from the web. That way you're restricted to your subject.

Also, always reward yourself after having spent a considerable amount of time doing something you didn't feel like doing. For example, after having spent 5 hours studying Plato's Republic last week, I rewarded myself to 1.5 hours of Counter-strike, even though it was really late. That way, after a few times of rewarding yourself this way, you'll feel more inclined to begin studying in the first place, because you always enjoy what you get to do immediately afterwards.

As for organisation, make sure you use an agenda to track dates of important events, such as exams or due-dates for projects. I also have this huge 4 month calendar on which I write down important dates for my semester at University.

Here are a few articles you might want to look at:

I hope I was able to help, or at least point you to some good information. Good luck.

I think your question indicates that you have no interest in the subject that you are required to study. That you don't think it has any relevance to your life or future. An education is the most important thing that you do in your lifetime if you want to be all you can be. Many people rise to fame and fortune and some are educated in schools and others are educated in their life experience. The first thing is to get an education with a life goal of fulfilling the passion that is within you. If you have an image in your mind of what kind of person you want to be and what values you uphold then that will be your destiny. (God willing)

I think all I'm trying to tell you is to look inside yourself and find the thing that you can love and make you great in yourself (passion)

Studying, It can be a grind

If you have a passion that grasps you, and holds you, for life, Then studying it is not a chore but a challenge to learn more.

Every person prays for a passion (eventually) in their lives. A meaning, a reason to exist. So do it now while you are young. Study the things you need ( math science language ) and then pursue your passion and make the world a better place.

Probably not a lot of advice here about 'HOW TO STUDY" you should study but focus on the things that are important to you and hold your interest.

PS: self discipline is not a desireable trait. There are enough people in the world who want to discipline you without you adding to the problem. Do not berate yourself. You are a child of God and
if you live your life with compassion for others He will love you. And above all else you will love yourself.

PPS How to get organised? Personally i don't think it's possible.
Why ? Life is not . In your life you will come to forks in the road and you will have to choose (or accept) between one or the other ( organisation or chaos) "opposites"

The lives of humans is chaotic and so live everyday with love in your heart and compassion in your spirit. .

Take it from a geezer . Read a parable from Jesus once a week and really think about what is being said. You will find your place in life.

The golden rule (find it) is the profound statement of God.

Study and understand this and teach others.

I guess i got onto philosophy but I really only wanted to tell you
that these things can't be taught by others. Listen to your self.

Buy an extra notebook for each subject at the beginning of the year so that as you finish a chapter in class, you immediately write notes and summaries in that book. The classwork will still be fresh in your mind so at exam time you merely have to read your notes instead of complete chapters.
Learn how to make mind maps and other memory aids. Mind maps are graphical illustrations of a subject and a great memory tool to use, especially during exams.
As soon as you finish a topic take out a book from the library and read more information about the subject. Take notes to refer back to them before and at test time.
Make a timetable for exam days by marking the dates on a calendar, so you can be prepared by the time the test comes around.
Make a list of your classes and the topics covered in class. As you study a topic put a check mark next to it, to remember which topics have already been studied.
Set aside a study time each day when you are not too tired, or too hungry. If you are going to study for a long time, remember to take a break inbetween.
Set up a study group. Study groups share notes, thoughts and ideas or how to solve or understand a particular problem.
Get enough sleep at night. It's harder to concentrate when you got less than six hours of sleep the night before.

I know the feeling as well. Find or make a dedicated friend who wants to study with you. If this is not possible the best solution is to simply have someone help you keep focused. You need help from somebody, some support or you will lose confidence in yourself. Once youv'e made a habit of it you can learn to work mor independantly.

As an organized slob, I offer this advice. Try being organized for a little while, just force yourself to do it. And even though it may inconvenience you, it will make your life more efficient. I think that is a universal want, so perhaps you'll be persuaded to at least keep some good habits. Then, you can personalize your organization system. It need not make sense to others, as long as it works for you. You could become an organized slob like me.

There are some seriously good pointers already by various people kind enough to answer your question.
All I would add is this, like everyone else you have a will but only you can decide to use it, other people can't do it for you. So ask yourself do you want to learn or don't you? The choice, as 'they' say, is yours.
Hope you make it"

You just have to sit down and force yourself to study. Make time and do it. Find a quiet space maybe some soft music and make yourself. Set up a schedule and stick to it. turn off the phone, the television and do it. There is no other way. Good luck and God bless. You could break the time up into 30 or 40 min intervals and then take a 10minute break.

I don't know what to tell you about self-discipline. When comes to studying just make it fun. When you study make games out of your notes. Also, you can color-code your work in school to make your notebooks organized and easy to find info.

Hi, usually what I would do is set up a schedule of a time to study throughout the week. Like for an example, I Study 5 times a week, twice a day around the morning hours of 9am-11am and at night at 7pm-8:00pm............thats the time i set for myself. It's totally up to you what times and days you choose. Make a schedule up for yourself and stick with it......think of it like a job.....you have to do it......maybe go to a library sometimes or a place that you know that's quiet.
