My best friend of 13 years has been diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. The doctors gave her 3-5 years. Does anyone have hope of living past that? Is there any web sites I can research to learn more? What is the best thing I can do for her? She lives in Boston MA and I live in Missouri. We talk everyday still with the occasional flight to visit. I couldnt feel more useless right now

some good websites for researching medical diseases are mayoclinic.com and webmd.com you should really research ovarian cancer. honestly, just because a doctor says only 3-5 years left doesnt mean a whole lot. everyones body reacts differently to cancer and with all the new treatments these days some people are living far past their expected time. i wish you and your friend the best.

Has it spread? If not, she can undgo surgery to remove her ovaries. It is drastic, but it is an option.
