Because up to now, insofar as animal products for clothes wear and food, animals continue to reproduce and we have a near-limitless supply. Would you propose we eat dirt and rocks and salt water? I don't think that would work... WHAT alternatives do you think we have?

Or, do you refer to the use of fossil fuel? If so, ....OK... WHAT would you propose is cheaper and won't be messed with by the super rich and powerful or with Dubya's and Cheney's cronies? Speaking REALISTICALLY, how long do you think the super rich and powerful would let me live if I came up with a device that would make an engine run safely, efficiently, without polluting or contaminating the environment and still yield 200 miles per liter of gasoline or oil or water... or something that would by-pass today's oil-dependent plants, engines, etc? HOW LONG WOULD I LIVE before I just "disappear" off the face of the Earth?

what's not advanced about it? oil was first produced (in mass) in the early 20th century in pennsylvania. Coal started the industrial revolution in the 18th century. 200+ years of technology advance isn't much compared to the existence of the human species. In another 200 years, who knows where we'll be. Renewables are just now playing a "significant" part of our energy supply.

For one thing people are always interested in learning new things about this planet and world. I find the dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals interesting. So people I guess will always be trying to find everything they can on the aninals and plants in the world.

we use oil etc because it is useful.

the fact it is made of dead dinosaurs, etc, doesn't make using it an "un-advanced" thing to do; chemical energy is the same wether we dug it out of the ground or created it in a lab from space dust.

Who told you we were advanced? That's the biggest myth of all. We eat dead animals and plants, how advanced is that?
