are the hormones released in the mirena iud the same amount as regular birth control pills?

are the side effects the same? low libido? mood swings?

No its not the same. No weight gain, No loss is sex drive, no mood swings. I have a complete absence of period

Nope not the same hormones. Mirena uses levonorgestrel. I have had no mood swings.....I used to get very bad PMS, cramps, and bleeding. Now my period is very light. Libido is better b/c I have no fear of getting pregnant. Love it highly recommend it!!
