I'm considering trying to do a stage version of Ingemar Bergman's classic movie "Seventh Seal". As far as I can tell its never been staged. Do I need to get some kind of rights for it? I have a Swedish to english translation of the script from the movie already. I would probably have to re-write it to turn it into a full length play as the movie is only about 100 minutes long.

Hmm, that will take some research on your part. Most likely the studio that distributed it will still own the copyright. You can send some letters of inquiry while continuing to write it. People have been known to adapt plays without paying any type of royalty, but I would advise against it unless it's just an informal staged reading.

you have to get permission from the copyright holder - probably the screenwriters (it's their words you're using)

(100 minutes + 20 minutes for intermissioin = 2 hours - perfect time)
