There is a prescription treatment you can apply at home called "Aldara". They are caused by HPV, Human Papiloma Virus.
Note: Valtrex is a treatment for genital herpes, something WAY worse!
Here is a link with more information that may help.
http://health.yahoo.com/topic/sexualhealth/treatment/article/healthwise/hw105568 Don't be afraid to see a doctor, I know someone that used the Aldara cream and it cleared up the problem without having to have anything "burned off"...
Take care of yourself, AJ

Freezing, acid, or laser treatments. These should all be done by a doctor. The exact method depends on the placement of the wart. Generally, freezing with liquid nitrogen is painless and quick.
(Oceanlady is confusing genital warts with herpes - you can ignore that answer). They can be completely cleared up, but you may get them again through sexual contact with another infected person.

I got diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about 5 years back, whilst I was still attending college and had a silly one-night stand. I realize a lot of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/V7M8d everything got better.
Not only was I able to clear away all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my body in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This system gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others by sharing this story.

Your choices for treatment are laser, surgical removal, cauterizing (burning) off, and Condylox cream. The latter is for very small warts and has varying success. It would be best if you consult with a urologist. Venereal warts or condyloma or papilloma are highly contagious and you should be using a condom. If you have infected your partner, she may not even know because they can be in the vagina or on the cervix and never seen. Please tell your partner. These viruses can cause cancer in both men and women, more often in women, so please don't ignore the problem. Good Luck.

I'm not sure, but I do know that genital warts are caused by a virus, HPV, and that they will never be completely gone. Shop around and be sure to ask your doctor.

Go to the doctor, do not have sex with anyone and do not share underwear or pants.
They will use an acid solution to burn the warts off. If you have had sex with anyone have them go to the doctor also. If they do not and you have sex with them again, you will just get the warts again.

no you can get them under control or stop new ones from forming by taking medication like valtrex but getting rid of them permantly is not so this is an STD that can not be treated where it goes away for good
