That is a great area to move to from NY. How exiting! You say you would like to leave the past behind and that is OK. But you can't order your wife to do the same. This is a very personal thing you're asking from her and I think you crossed the line here dude. If she wants to keep those ashes with her, she could bury or scatter them in the new garden that you (no doubt) have. The Adirondacks seem a great place for that. But even if she wants to keep her mum's ashes in the house, you should try to agree with her on a way or spot that is acceptable for both of you. By the way: did you know that you can have jewelry made out of part of the ashes of a beloved one? Maybe you can suggest that she does that, before giving the rest a final destination.

Speaking from experience....
If you wanna get her to cook breakfast then have another female cook for you. Make sure the chick is hot looking lol. After two days of cooking breakfast for you and you talking a bout how good it taste your wife will kick her azz out and cook for you herself.
I know i was the wife once lol.

Go on strike. Stop doing one of your chores in retaliation. If you do the laundry, let it pile up, if you take out the garbage, let that pile up.
If you really want to be spiteful, withhold the nookie until she makes with the bacon & eggs!!
