Go straight to your friend that is mad at you and say," I know you think I was talking about you but whether you believe me or not, I truly wasn't, I just want to be friends and forget about all this." If you friend is still mad, then their obviously not a very loving and forgiving friend, we all make mistakes, heck I have said things about my friends behind their backs and they found out, when they confronted me I did not lie, I said yes I said that and I'm sorry I was just being and idiot, either they forgive you or they don't-you just have to get in the habit of not talking about people because sometimes we let things slip when we shouldn't.

If she won't listen to you, write her a letter to explain the facts to her. If she doesn't believe you, you either have to look into yourself and ask yourself why doesn't she believe me? If she has reasons not to trust you, then you will need to work that out within yourself. But if you see no reason why she won't believe you, then maybe it's in your best interest to not be close with her any longer. If she is your true friend, she will come around. Once you've said your peace, give her her space. Rumors have little weight with friends that really know each other and have built up a certain amount of trust between each other.

Talk to Amanda and see what she told your friend. If what she said was not true then get everyone (Amanda and your friend) together and fix things once and for all. Just talk about it.

If she is your best friend you should talk to her and let her Know that Amanda is not telling the truth. Do it in front of Amanda and let her know that you are not gonna let her ruin your relationship with your best friend.

go to your friend and tell her the truth. if she respects you she will listen. if she doesnt and chooses to listen to the gossipy friend, then she wasnt a true friend to start with.
as hard as that truth can be to swallow, you are better to know where things stand than to let this triangle with Amanda continue. It will only get worse from here on if you dont take a stand and straighten out the issue now.
tell the truth, you cant go wrong.

Limit the amount of people you talk to. Some people like to sabotage relationships especially if they are good ones
