i really started to think about who i really am, and wat other people see me as. um... its really hard to explain but im really into rap music and r&b and hip-hop and stuff, and i just LOVE clothes like southpole, baby phat, rocawear, etc. At school i just wear regular clothes from Kohls and **** and my friends were completly shocked when they found out that i listen to rap music. as i came into the high skool i decided that i would start to show others who i really wanna be, but it is kinda hard. i dont wanna change completly cuz then others will think that im just a wanna-be or sumthin and i dont wanna be shy anymore..i wanna open up in classes and skool like everyone else does. i really wanna be noticed by others at skool. i just wanna show everybody that i am into clothes like southpole and that i do listen to rap music.if anyone can give me anytype of advice i would really appreciate it......

I would take it slow. Just do minor changes that over a period of time will reflect who you really are. This can start with changes in clothing, so a different type of pant or shirt and then later move on to a full wardrobe change.

As long as you keep it gradual it will be easier for those around you to accept who you are and before you know it you will be who you want to be and most everyone will know that you are still really you no matter what your preference in style and music is.

Just start to incorporate things into your daily wordrobe. Keep wearing the other stuff until you are completley comfortable wearing southpole. Also ask a friend if they have a cd by an artist you like. It is just high school, what they think will only last for a few seconds at most till something else comes there way. Be true to your self

Nobody realy knows much about who they are at your age. everyone is too concerned with being accepted and popular, and worrying that they don't fit in. Your admiration for what's popular with your peers trumps your own interests (clothes, music). You won't get a chance to know who you are unless you have the courage and strength to stand alone sometimes. Try some new things. See if you like new things. See how new activities make you feel. Don't limit yourself to what's popular or cool according to your peers. Be a trendsetter, not another sheep following the herd. Try some new things like kickboxing, listening to Spanish guitar music while doing yoga, volunteering at a big brothers and sisters youth program, painting or graphic design, rackettball, darts, listen to NPR (National Public Radio), learn about politics, learn a foreign language, indoor 'rock climbing', journalsim, photography, and a number of other activities. Explore various music generes on XM or Sirrius satellite radio, digital cable, or satellite tv music channels. You might find some great music that you'll never hear on MTV.....(that's how I discovered I love jazz and soul).

You have to try new things to see what feels good to you, and find out things you want to be good at. Find out what motivates you. Some people are motivated by intrinsic rather then extrinsic rewards (personal satisfaction vs. money or status). Which are you? You have to get out of your comfort zone of being 'just like everyone else' for a minute. WIll you be a person that affects the world, on one who is affected by it?

It sounds to me that you are probably still so young that the real you hasn´t formed yet and even when it has reached some stable form it will change over time. So just concentrate on taking all of your truly important experiences and how they made you feel and then express that in your daily life. You will soon find that you will know just who you are and so will other people.
You will also find the JOY of living and be pleased with all the new things you will discover.

i think that you should just be who you want to be, regardless of what other people think of you becuase that will bring down your self-esteem a lot. I think that if you want to really want to do those things then you should and dont let anyone tell you what to do. Also, expressing yourself through music can help too. But if people were smart enough, they would just see that you are trying to be you. So just try something small out like wearing different cloths and see how people react and if its a good reaction then let it all out and show the world who you really are.

Sweetie, you really need to study more English grammar or you'll be working minimum wage jobs for the rest of your life. Instead of showing others your into clothes, you ought to be showing them that you're literate. Also, give up the rap music as it will rot what little brain you do use. Good Luck!

Sounds like you are very confused with the generation pressures.

I would focus on what you truly like, and go with that.

Find out what you really enjoy a lot, and build your life around that.

Don't go with rap or hip hop because that's what's around today.

Instead, go with what makes you happy.

Whatever it is in this big, wide world that makes you happy, follow it. You will find that it's all about being happy in what you do.

Some of us are blessed to be working on jobs we truly enjoy, and the wages are just secondary.

I wish you much luck and success.

Ask your closest friend. And tell your friend to be very candid. There will be your answer. Otherwise, you will need time to mature more. Professional therapy might help as well if it's really important for you to know as soon as possible.

Relax.
Other people spend most of their time thinking about themselves and THEIR problems and needs.
Set your style, stay with it, enjoy it, and after an initial few smart comments and a little controversy, it will be yours, and you will see them imitating you!!
Urban hip-hop chic!
But you gotta feel it, and KEEP feelin' it!!
Don't fade!!
