I like all sorts of original music, where you feel as if the composer have sacrificed a part of themselves for it. I originally grew up listening to nothing but metal and punk but I started composing and producing my own stuff over the last few years and I have to say I now listen to anything be it rock, indie, electronica or hip hop, etc, as long as it grabs me and inspires.
I cant stand this generic lazy emo pseudo goth pop music thats currently doing the rounds, yeah its well produced but every song sounds the same, the structure never varies and just cause theyre playing guitars and drums doesnt mean that they are good, try listening to some artists that have actually progressed music in their own genre's Coldcut, Aphex Twin, Radiohead, Faith no more, M83, Depeche Mode, System of a downm Orbital, anything on Grand Central Records, I could go on but your probably already bored, just give it some thought and try and open your ears to something beyond the top 40.

My favorites are classic rock of the 70s (Eagles, Chicago, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fleetwood Mac, Eric Clapton) and just about anything from the 80s (especially Toto, Def Leppard, Cinderella, Poison). These days, it's rare that I hear anything I like, and want to run out & buy. I occassionally like some country music, but even that genre has gotten so watered down by pop music, I don't even hear a lot of country music that I like.
I hate rap. It's for punks and thugs.

Group I like the Jam first and foremost, musically and lyrically outstanding, and being there at the right time to impressionable youth.
Label. Motown, such a collection of songs and singers.
Genre. Hip Hop, so much of it started out with amazing creativety, but most of it sounds so samey now.
As for hates, there's nothing i would say i hated, as for tons of crud on a river bed might be hiding a rough diamond, and if you dismiss whole genres out of hand you don't know what you might be missing.
And besides music is all about personal taste, just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that it's bad, as they may be millions that do like it. Because they like something different to you doesn't mean they're wrong, it just means they have different tastes and that should be respected.

My favorite type of music...stuff that Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Evanescence, All American Rejects, etc. play. If I said that was emo or punk rock, people wouldn't agree but if I said that was alternative rock people wouldn't agree so whatever type of music it is, I like it.
I also like J-Rock.
Why?
Because the lyrics are catchy and so true a lot of the time, the singers have amazing voices and they are just amazing songs. With the J-Rock, I just love it. So catchy.
I hate...
Rap. I have always hated rap. I always will.
Why?
Because. Most of the time they sing about sex, money, and all kinds of offensive crap. Rap is horrible and just...it's horrible. It speaks about women in very degrading ways, and it's just disgusting.

I like just about every form of music, from soul to classical. It's very hard for me to just listen to one thing, i like to explore & get diffrent facets of art & life.
The only kind i cant get into is country. I dont know why, i just never dug it. I do like bluegrass, just the playing, not the singing. I really don't have a reason, i just never did. By the way, as a rap fan who has never been to jail, respects women & works at a law firm, we don't like it very much when people make general statements about rap fans. OK, dgindian?

I love Country, the songs seem a little more real to me. I also like 80's rock (Bon Jovi, Def Leopard)
I hate this rap/hip-hop crap. Makes NO sense to me. Every other word is a cuss word or about sex or drugs.

I don't like rap, except The Beastie Boys, and Rage Against The Machine was rock/rap!

My favorite music is hard rock because I love the sound of guitars, and it is just awesome. I hate rap/hip-hop because everybody these days loves it and the lyrics are either dirty or filled with bad words, and to me it just doesn't sound very good. My fave band is CHEVELLE. THEY ROCK!
