How can i stop XP's Auto installation of any hardware..i want to instal it manually but it starts by its own..Awesome..i find no option, and now i ask for ur help..Plx do it With thanks

I mean to say ..i fix hardware(just say Network adapter)..the drivers windows xp choose for it are Wrong..I want to manually instal it..when i eliminate all ..XP's drivers..and installs my own..it again start it's own drivers with out asking me..i want to stop this auto installation option of XP..so that it never ever to instal drivers..never Ever..

I'm not sure if there is an option in the policy settings to select to stop that.

But what you can do is go into device manager afterwards and re-install drivers for the device manually and force it to use a specific driver at a specific location of your choosing.

In device manager, right-click on device and choose
"Update Driver"
>then click through to where it says "Install from List or Specific Location"
>in next screen choose "Don't search. I will choose the Driver to Install"
>at next screen, choose "Have Disk" button, and browse to location of driver you wish.

Don't argue with it - just cancel out of the install it tries to do, and then do your own thing. You know, it puts up the little windows, and you cancel or x out of it.....
