The restaurant owner will probably ask you to leave something like a watch or jewelry as collateral. You may also be asked to show identification so that if you do not return to pay the remaining amount due, the police can be notified. Being forced to wash dishes is a tall tale; it is illegal for a restaurant to compel your labor services in washing dishes without payment of the full minimum wage per hour in earnings.

If ap person eat and they have money to pay for the bills. I tell them to call their friends or family who can come and help them pay for the bill. If they can't get a hold of any of their friends or family member than they have to leave their cell phone or something as a lateral. If the still don't have anthing for lateral than call the police. The person would have to stay in prison over night and they have a record which he/she may have to go to court.

Ask to see the practice manager and explain the situation in person. The folks at the front desk usually only know the policy and have no authority to make exceptions like this. If this is her regular vet and you have a good relationship with them, you may get approved for an installment plan. The vets here in the U.S. are not in the businesses of charity or banking and have installment contracts that specify the interest rate, payment dates and amounts. Health care providers here, both human and animal, have tired of providing interest free loans to their patients and the insurance companies. Their solution is to have the patient pay at time of service, provide the proper forms, and let the patient wrestle with the insurer for however long it takes to get whatever they can.

It entirely depends on the circumstances. Sometimes it's a matter of a forgotten wallet.Usually holding their cellphone ,or drivers license, etc is enough until they return with the money. If it is a deliberate attempt to defraud, such as a dine and dash, they usually will face prosecution, go in front of a judge, pay restitution, and court costs and have a record of usually misdemeanor charges or more.

my restaurant will call the police. what happens when you go to a store and buy a candy bar and you don't have the money to pay for it? do you walk out?? didn't think so. it's called stealing. and i do not know of any restaurant that would let you wash dishes to pay for the bill. there is already someone there being paid to do that job, so why would they let you? they wouldn't.

A man had a good meal with Champagne in a very expensive restaurant.
When the waiter gave him the bill he asked to see the manager.
He told the manager he doesn't have any money -
"but don't worry - I'm a professional beggar. I can stand outside your restaurant and beg and make enough money to pay for the meal in about 30 minutes.
"But it wouldn't look good having a beggar standing outside your restaurant - so it's best if I go round the corner to beg.
"But why should you trust me? I might run away. So it's best if you come with me.
"But that wouldn't look very nice for business. You, a manager of a big, expensive restaurant, standing in the street with a beggar.
"So it's best if you go round the corner and do the begging on your own while I wait for you here!"

1 - if your with a date you should tell her to leave first, and go to the car then you should slip out the back door.
2 - if you are with friends and they don't have the money you better hope someone at that table really likes your azz!!!!
3 - if you get caught you could either do dishes or if the cops are involed you may go to jail or juvie hall.
4- if you have the kind of friends I had when growing up you better either have fast feet or or not be the slowest of the group.
Really if you can't afford you should not try it.

you have to leave an i.d. w/ the manager on duty--if you dine and dash, they'll call the cops--plus, if you do dash, the server usually has to pay for your meal and you suck!! i've been in the hospitality industry for many years and you're a loser--if you don't have the money or a credit card--stay at home!!
