When starting the Jeep there is power to the fuel pump as long as the starter is engaged. When you let go of the key the pump has no electric power. Im thinking there is a relay gone bad but just where is it located at.

check under the hood on the passenger side between the battery and the coolant expansion tank, you will find your relay centre there , but, it could be the wire from the run side of your ignition switch, also clean all your ground wires, good luck , keep on jeepin'

I believe the fuel pump is powered up in the "crank" position by the ignition switch.Once the engine control module sees a tach signal,it closes a driver inside the ecm and keeps the pump running.It may also use the oil pressure switch to enable the fuel pump after the engine starts.

i had an 86 cherokee and i cried when it finally died after 265,000 miles.......driver's side firewall dear, good luck
