Thank you all for all your tips I got it written down, so helpful and spiritual of you guys. I also find it so hard to look at ppl in the eye and talk, cos I am scared of getting lost in the conversation.

there is an excellent book called The Woman's Book of Confidence. It has meditations you can read daily or more often, if necessary. It is by Susan Patton Thoele and it can be purchased at www.conari.com.
I think it's great that you have a goal for achieving confidence in your life but speaking from experience it is a life long journey to maintain self confidence and self respect. There is no quick fix.
I also suggest making a list of the people in your life who have the qualities you want to have for yourself. Then make a point of calling them and asking what they did to embrace those qualities.
Make a list of things that you might want to try to get to where you need to be. If you do the same work that others have to get the confidence you admire... you'll find that one day someone will ask you "hey, how did you get to be so confident?" And you can share with them... you pass it on.
hope this helps!

Just know that everybody makes mistakes and people like you more if you're confident. Do you really want to be the girl that everyone describes as "sweet" because that's the only thing they can think of?? No. So just own it. I wasn't confident either, but then I realized that my life was boring and it's just so much better to be confident than shy. You'll get the most out of life.
Don't punish yourself if you say something stupid.
Learn to laugh at yourself and to lighten the mood
Even if you don't FEEL confident, pretend you do.
Hang out with very confident people. It will rub off on you.

Hold your head up when you walk-dont look at/talk to the floor. Make eye contact with everyone you talk to. Make a list of all of the things you know are good things about yourself. Learn to make the best of yourself and try to "sell yourself" a little. Life is a bit of bluff realy at times. When you talk to people ask them a little about themselves-its friendly and saves you having to do all of the talking. Try not to go off-topic when you talk-its easy to gabble on when you get nervous. Why is the time limit Christmas? Its something that develops over years and years. You will be a different person in 10 years time if you work on this. Work on some of the areas you feel are you weakest. This is very complex. I was very shy at 24 but Im not now but wow-Im 48 now! Email me if you want to be more specific and I will try to help with ideas/examples-its difficult to do on here realy as the more you go into it, the more questions you come p with! Good luck anyhow.

I know this will sound crazy, but I am very sincere with this advice. If you want to BE more confident, ACT like you're confident. Look people in the eye when you talk to them, smile at people, strike up meningless conversations with people you see inthe stores, dress well and take care that you look your best. I know (really know) how hard this is to do, but it does really work. It's amazing how people react to a smiling, friendly face--they will smile back at you, talk to you, generally act pleased to be around you, and that will boost your genuine confidence! I promise you this is true. My BF says I make friends everywhere I go--what he just doesn't believe is that I make a real effort every day to do this...then every night befroe I go to bed, I think of 3 good things that happened to me that day (not major things usually)-like I got to leave work early, or my BF took me out to dinner, or the weather was baeautiful...this has the effect of me looking for the good things that happen to me every day cause I want to remember them at night-I hardly ever notice bad things that would have driven me nuts earlier, like getting stuck in traffic or getting some extra work thrown at me, or something bad happening on the news...I believe this has given me a much more positive outlook on life, and you know what, there are too many negative people out there-I want to be the bright spot in someone's day..I won't even bother with negative people anymore-to me, they are poison, and I don't need it...
I hope these things will help you, I know they have made a world of difference to me, and really improved my outlook on life overall...

Be judicious in goals and expectations you set for yourself. Stay within know levels of success, and push a little higher gradually with something to fall back on to when first attempts at something higher doesn't go exactly as you expected. With work and pratice keep raising fall back level higher and higher.

I'm not really sure, but I know that if you were with someone who made you feel wonderful, who treated you like a queen, who made you feel like you were the most important thing to him....it would greatly improve your self confidence.
