As a species can we really expect to live more than a hundred years with the mentallity that when we die heaven is our prize. I am a pure agnostic I know noot wheather there is or is not a god, heaven, hell, etc. With a mentallity that we will live in paradise as long as we don't do wrong, but as a species we shouldn't sit in the dark and let knowledge and opritunity pass us by. I see so many cast aside in contentment. Why shouldn't we try to make this world our on little heaven. Every person should contribute to the progress of man, science, and the betterment of all things.

If you don’t know or understand the purpose to your existence then it doesn't make any difference if man lasts another day.

The intended purpose of man is to share eternal life with God. Human eternal life is by freewill choice of man. Life that will be eternal comes into being or is denied by our choice for life. In life we are given a time to choose. That choice determines our condition for eternity.

The personality we create here will be our personality for eternity. Your association in eternity will be with those that accept that personality. No one will be required to put up with anyone else. In fact the only people you will be able to find are those that are like you. As you can see that knowing this, you know if that would be heaven or hell.

If the process here is not and has no hope of producing souls for eternity don’t expect it to continue. It is also automatic that if we all guide our personalities to be people that others want to be with, the world problems would be solved.

Actions in keeping with natural law, the design of God, will solve the problem. On a personal level, pray and do penance. Praying is just talking to or thinking about God. If you don’t know about God, start by asking questions. You will be surprised at the answers you get. Look around you and see what God has made. When you realize that God made all that you see you will find no problem thinking about God.

Penance is just putting your desires behind those of others. That alone will save a marriage. That same penance will also save the world.

Make some effort to learn about God in the Bible. You are making this judgment from a simplistic caricature of eternity. A true agnostic takes seriously the concept that God is unknowable. This is different from a person who simply doesn't care or doesn't bother to try to know.

People who live by the Bible are quite motivated to stay alive and to make the best use they can of the talents God has given them while they are here.

Our knowledge of eternity in the presence of God ("heaven") or in the absence of god ("hell") has been around for 2000 years, and with lesser clarity for thousands of years before that. If you don't enjoy the presence of God now, then you wouldn't like heaven. Of course, you wouldn't like hell either. Only the ultimate masochist could conceive of enjoying eternal torment.

I think that the odds of survival are quite good. After all, we have been at it for some hundreds of thousands of years already, and have coped with ice ages and all sorts of other threats.

Well in my opinon, the only hope is to return to primal instincts and use only primitive technology. I personally think the world is gonna end in my lifetime though... it probably won't last that long anyway...

No, but seriously, we have to shut down North America's faulty electoral systems (e.g. electoral college, riding system), and seize control of religion before it creeps any further into our countries' decision-making processes.
