Yes. Penguins appear to have very short legs and no knees because only the lower leg is externally visible. Their knees and upper legs are feather covered, hiding them from view. This also means that penguins never get cold knees!

Before that they used to have knees, but no longer!!

Penguins, in common with all birds, have a different arrangement of joints in the legs from those in mammals. However, they do have joints equivalent to our knees - the difference is that these joints are much closer to the hip than on mammals.

Yes, all birds have knees. In most birds we see visually something in the leg that bends backwards from how our knees bend, but this is actually the bird's ankles. Where the knee is located is usually hidden in their belly feathers.

as far as I can tell, all the Pittsburgh Penguins have knees. It would prob be hard to play w/o them!

I believe they do. But I could be mistaken. I am pretty sure that all birds do have knees though.
