You will not have a hard time finding employment my fellow Vet. A lot of government jobs (city, county, state, Fed.) all have veterans credit when apply. I myself have joined the American Legion and the V.F.W. both of them can offer you assistance in getting hooked up with a job and a lot of employer's love us former military guys/gals. Esp. all my fellow Devil Dogs out there....OOOO RAAAAAA!!!! Good luck, and welcome to the slimy civilian world....LOL.

I strongly suggest that you seek employment on a military base in a GS position. Second, you can also apply at a Veterans clinic or hospital. They always have openings in different fields including administrative. If you want to completely leave the military environment there's fire fighting, the police dept, city employment, HRS, the post office. You will also get veterans preference at quite a few positions that you apply for.

Totally depends on where you are applying at ? What state, town etc. ? Contact the local employment office's veteran affairs rep and ask them. Also after 20 years, you should have some idea how your skills translate into the civilian economy and apply at the appropriate industry.
Good luck

its not easy because i have been down that road before myself. just because you're a veteran does not give you any advantage over civillians if fact in some cases you're better off not to tell them you're retired from the military. civillians do not like retired military contary to what you have been told in the military. if you are going to live in a larger city you will be able to get a job it may not be what you had in mind but you can survive like all the rest of us did before you.

Keep an eye on USA Jobs. There are veteran's preferences available for government jobs. You should be able to find an agency that could use your military experience.
