in the state of SC to get a divorce finalized?? It has been 60 days since my lawyer sent off papers to courts. They say minimum takes 3 mnths and can take up to 6 mnths. Have been seperated for nearly 2 yrs!!!! I want to move on with my life!! Is there anything I can do that the lawyer is not telling me?????

he keeps telling me that it depends on how backed up the courts are. 1st come 1st serve basis. a friend said the closer it gets to the holidays the harder it gets since they take off so much time from work(at courts). i just didnt know an around about time it took.

It could be worst NJ you have to be separte for 18 months before any marriage is final. Different states so you have it better then anyone else.

I'm sorry. Stretching it out is like a hangnail that won't grow out. The number of judges is set by the legislature which works w/o a budget and usually a population/per court ratio. The courts are overloaded w/ criminarl and civil cases. Frivilous lawsuits are about 2 years out from trial - they are worse than some of the pop up ads.
Practise the stress relief of choice and don't become a lawyer.

Oklahoma only wait three months before its finalized, each state varies, you need to consult your lawyer and ask him why its taking so long.

You're paying your attny. Insist that he give you an answer. Even if you must call him every day. Maybe you can add, that you see no point in paying him, since he hasnt completed the job!
