Hello, I am a 16 year old male. I am 5'5" and I am only 100 pounds. I eat all day long, and I still don't gain any weight. I always feel depressed becasue I am so skinny, and I see my friends are 150lbs and have muscle. I also want to gain muscle. Can someone please help me with a plan to gain muscle and weight?

Dietary suggestions
Carbohydrates such as oatmeal and rice will give you the necessary calories as well as beneficial fats. You can also eat pasta, potatoes and other whole grains.Make sure that you eat enough protein .The addition of good fats can also pay dividends in time.Peanuts, cashews and even peanut butter are some great sources. You can also eat canned tuna in oil.The oil it's packed in is actually healthy if used in moderation.
I don't recommend this for you,but I had to consume 7000 calories a day before I started gaining alot.Eat 6-8 times a day and drink plenty of fluids..If you add a serious weight training regimen to this you will definitely gain weight. You should concentrate on big compound movements in the low rep range. You don't express an interest in weight lifting so I will leave it at that.
Everyone who tells you that you need 8 8 ounce glasses of water a day is completely wrong.

If you are interested in weight lifting,e mail me and I will add some advice.
And running is the stupidest suggestion I've seen in a very long time. When is the last time you saw a runner that wasn't underweight?

Consult a nutritionist.

Lift weights 3 times a week. 20-30 Min's a day. Muscle mag gives you plenty of work out routines pending the body type you have.

You have a fast metabolism, i recommend that you deal with it until you're 17-19. Then you can safely slow it down.

Eat 5-7 SMALL meals a day, evenly spaced.

Read the nutrition pyramid and follow it exactly!!!!!

Take a multi vitamin- centrum... That way the nutrients that you get from food can be stored. I.E. more mass.

A nutritionist will give you a detailed Analise's of you're overall health. And will tell you what you need to eat more of etc...

Just eat regularly and exercise daily because you need it. Try running a mile everyday and workout at a gym to gain muscle.Or try to get involved in athletics like running, soccer, or other stuff. You can lift weights too and dont forget : Don't over eat with yourself its not really a good thing to do and eat healthy foods. Maybe you have a fast metabolism. Just follow these steps and you'll be fine!

Ever heard of working out? Try it, you might get some results. Also, search for the skinny man's guide to gaining weight by men's health magazine. It is on their site and gives the exact plan for eating, etc. Good luck!

Eat regularly (rarely/never skip a meal!), and don't worry about it too much. I was skinny as a rail from 16 to 19. Then, I spent a couple years filling out, but my eating habits never changed, and (alas) after that I became rather stocky.
