My personal opinion is.............when the child doesn't need parental observation ! I feel a child should never be left alone. Way too many things could happen. There should always be an adult to supervise. If you have to go somewhere overnight.....leave your child with a responsible adult.

i lived in pa. for many years and to be honest i have no idea. but the way to find out is by calling your local child protective service. i live in ny. and here they say you can leave your child home alone at 12 as long as you feel that they are responsible, but and there is always a but, if something were to happen you could get charged with neglect. so its a fine line.so, if you do call and they give you an age and they will, they may not tell you that if something were to happen that you could get into trouble. play it safe get someone to be there.

I don't think there is a age requirement but I was left alone since 11. I'm 15 now, I've always been smart enough to not answer the door, lock the doors, and to call the police in case of a emergency. Just make sure your kid knows what to do and everything should be fine.

The legal age is 13, but i wouldn't even leave them at that age, what if there was a fire, burgulary, or they got hurt? then what, that's just my opinion.
