How To Clean Paneling

Consider using the multipurpose cleaner... Simple Green.

Cooking Oils: Cooking oils are often more difficult to clean up than petroleum oils! Use a 50/50 solution of Simple Green and hot water to remove baked-on cooking oils from vents, range hoods and stove tops. Recently splattered oil on stove tops and counters can usually be quickly cleaned up with a 1-part-Simple Green to 10-parts-water solution. *If you have a glass-top stove, you should heavily dilute Simple Green – 1 spray of Simple Green into a 32 oz. spray bottle filled with hot water - which may require multiple applications to remove a lot of grease or food soils. On glass-top stoves, you might want to try Simple Green Multi-Surface Kitchen & Glass cleaner instead.

It works great for everything. I use to sell it in college.

Good Luck.

A trick I used when I worked for an appliance company.Take your cleaner and a plastic top from say some oven cleaner or anything close.Spray on the cleaner and go in a circular motion with the plastic top over it.It should remove the oil without scratching :)

Is the grease still sticky?
If it isn't gummy maybe you can sand it.

The grease went on in layers & you have to take it off in layers.(It will come off a lttle at a time.) TSP is a good all aroud cleaner.

They sell degreasers. Do a little research at a paint store, hardware store, Home Depot etc.

You are going to have to refinish the surfaces anyway.
Paint departments can tell you steps to take for the best results

using Murphy's wood oil soap should be used after the grease is out. but try vinegar and hot water.
dawn and hot water. is good..
the grease is soaked into the paneling so it will take a few times ..

Instead of removing the grease better to replace the panels-hardwood and linoleum-that will saves a lot of money instead of applying a chemical. If you do not wanted to do it-the easies solution is steam cleaning machine.

You are using WEAK cleaners. Use straight ammonia on a damp terrycloth rag. Rinse often, adding more ammonia. I usually fill a spray bottle with straight ammonia. Just keep rinsing and wringing out the rag.

Don't forget to open the windows and maybe have a fan blowing out.
