It would be OK to use an air ratchet to remove the pan bolts but I would use a nut driver (like a screwdriver with a socket end) to reinstall them. You have to be real careful when reinstalling the pan because if you over-tighten it it will deform the gasket surface and make leaks much more likely. Also when you pull out the filter the gasket may still be in the hole and you will have to get it out. I use an aluminum tent peg that I filed a nothch in to hook onto the gasket and that way you wont scratch up the hole.

Pretty self explanatory! Just pull one of the bolts and you will see why. I use an air ratchet but I turn the pressure down and also have years of experience. If this is a first or second time I suggest you stick to hand ratchets to avoid breaking off bolts or stripping out holes. Either one is a royal pain in the *** to fix and requires expensive tools also!

plain ratchet, because you cant really tell how tight the air ratchet has got the bolts until its too late. Easy to overtighten and leak and easy to break bolts. Take them out with air ratchet if you would like but put them back manually.

If air ratchet has adjustable torque, set it and use due to speed. If not, use hand tools. Pan bolts have low torque ratings and are notorious for breaking. If broken, MUST be replaced or you have a leak !

Air ratchet to remove because it is quicker and will break loose frozen bolts.

Air ratchet to snug the bolts back up, hand ratchet (or ratcheting torque wrench) to tighten up to prevent stripped threads, broken bolts, and leaks. Tighter is not better.

a plain ratchet would be best, transmission are mostly cast aluminum and low torque, you don't want to strip out the housing.

Really no difference. 1/4 inch drive air wrathchet would be quicker to remove, but i would stick with the older hand wratchet to reinstall bolts. Dont want to strip them.
good luck

plain or speed bar , because their is no air exhaust to blow the fluid around and make a mess.
