I have a toshiba notebook which has MK4021 as its hard drive. It is a 40 GB hdd, 2.5" , 9.5 mm, 4200 rpm with ATA -5.
I am looking to upgrade the harddrive (higher capacity, higher RPM) of my notebook . Most of the new ones support ATA-6 whereas my current hdd is ATA-5 compliant.

What all hdd models can i use to upgrade my Notebook's HDD ?

you can use any notebook hdd drive that is 2.5" , IT has to be a parallel ATA drive and it need not be only ATA 5, it can also be ATA 6.

Any which are ATA-5 or ATA-6. They are "backward compatible", the ATA-6 will however run at the ATA-5 transfer rate which is 66MBps, ATA-6 drives run at 100MBps. Hopefully you have your "Start-up CD" for your Toshiba!
