I just started a new job in Hong Kong. When the phone rang I answered with my surname ( MacGowan ). Every Chinese caller slammed the the phone down without saying a word. This went on and off for 6 months. No Chinese colleagues would tell me why. One day a sympathetic stranger quietly said ." did I know that the worst thing you can call Chinese is Macgowfan". When I asked why he whispered." In Cantonese Mac means "as big as the universe" Gow means "penis" and 'an' is as close as you get to 'fan', which means "troublesome". Well, at least for a short time in my life I was something special, even if I was the
"most troublesome prick in the universe".

The most random thing a person has ever said to me is, "CHEESE!!!" Really, this little kid one time came up to me and literally screamed at me, "CHEESE!!!" That was the strangest thing any body has said to me.

A couple of days ago I was out with my grandson. A woman walked past us and said " Well did you ever see anything like that ??", then she walked on by.
My grandson looked at me and I at him. We looked all around nothing ,no one, by now the woman was long gone and we are still left wondering !!!!!!!!!!

Some drunken bloke came up to me once and told me that he was Stanley Matthews and that he was gonna kick my head in. I just laughed and walked off, he was too steaming to follow.

When I was in the States, this absolute nutter came up to me and asked me: "Are you Swedish?" It was completely out of the blue, I was there "What???!!!!"
