i would try and understand the culture and be supportive. If you yell and forbid they'll do it behind your back. If it's Not illegal and won't hurt them then why not.

I would want my kids to be themselves and be able to express it in the way they want. But the protective side of me would be worried about the backlash of society. Its not right or fair that someone is judged by the way they look but realities is in our society that is exactly how it is. For years I worled in a profession that saw the truth of it and the goth kids always got stereotyped and ended up getting burned. As a parent I would not want my child hurt or subjected to that,
