I just moved to college this semester and I dont live on campus, I live about fifteen minutes away. I have no friends in town but my husband. I have met a few friends at school but they have their own lives on the weekend, it just seems so hard making new friends, anybody have any advice?

Pick someone you'd like to know and ask them over for dinner with you and your husband. If possible, join school clubs, attend a church anything else that will get you out of the house and interacting with others. Just give it some time at school even and I'm sure you'll get to know others in the classes you're taking.

Just play it by ear. There will most likely be some get togethers with fellow students and you'll be invited no doubt. Pick out the ones you and your husband seem to get a long good with and take it from there. Finding friends is easy, loosing them does hurt but there are always new ones to make freinds with all over again. It's a win-win situation.
Make your husband alittle jealous... tell him you just met and made a new friend here in Questions & Answers. "Me" lol Good Luck

The best way I found was to join a group. Find something you're interested in and join. You'll meet people with similar interests as you, otherwise why would they be in the group, and you'll have something in common. After you meet some people and find some you want to get to know better, invite them for coffee after words then see what happens.

Depends on the college... are there sororities or fraternity parties? School play you could try out for? Long play rehersals mean lots of time to chat. Clubs?

Through internet you can have many friends who are only bullshit with you to killing time. To build up friendship in internet is very difficult unless you are frankly talking to them and really care of them. May be, might be, you will have a good friend later.

eventually you will , sometimes a new face takes time to fit in, be little patient, you will be fine
