This is for the British after the army's head told the world he thinks we're doing more harm than good.

Unfortunately Andy , "Maddas" Hussien tortured , maimed and slaughtered his fellow countrymen in their hundreds of thousands only because they weren't in the same bloody tribe as him and his cohorts , we had to take his despotic regime out , at the time. Now , because of the 'vacuum' left by his demise , it's the insurgence that will take over and kill even more innocent people. I have one problem with the British being there , is the Yanks. OK! , we have always been very close allies through thick and thin , but I take issue regarding how the US squaddies conduct themselves in the field of conflict. Shoot now and ask questions later!. This is just not British. Yes , an 'exit-stratagy' should be put in place over the next two years. It would been impossible to fly our boys out tomorrow , that would be genocide in itself. Maybe a change in Prime Minister would hasten the exit , who knows.

Yes, we should never have gone in. It would be good if we could pull out, so many lives are being lost and we're just inviting more terrorism here in the U.K. by staying there. However, we cannot make a mess and then leave it without tidying up! Unless we can get Iraq to become stable we are stuck there.

Yes, but I have no idea how it is going to be possible to do this. I suspect we are going to be stuck with this for many years to come simply because the other arab countries won't get involved in making sure that the region becomes stable.

If more moderate countries like the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, and Saudi Arabia were to become more involved in sorting out terrorism then we wouldn't be stuck policing the region.

Unfortunately it IS up to us to clean this mess up because we are the ones who are being targetted by the murderous clerics preaching hate in Iraq and Afghanistan and the rest of the arab world is happily pretending that the problem doesn't exist.

Unfortunately, that is exactly what they want. They want us to leave so they can be left to their own devices. Look at the state of the place now!! Do you think that the good people there will be able to over power the taliban and the likes of groups like them?? No way, they will grow in power and there will once again be another turd like saddam elected and it will happen all over again. Our troops are needed there to retain a certain order until these people can help themselves. Is the world doing anything to try and bring them back into the 21 century? Building the cities back up? Building new schools? Working with mulim leaders and heads to teach people that fighting is wrong and a waste of time, and in the end, only love will only end it all.

Common sense, we have to sooner or later, no point in embarrassing ourselves negotiating a peace that will last 5 minutes after we leave after 20 years of fighting like in Vietnam. Even if we can stir up a Middle East war and take over all their oil we haven't got the stomach for fighting what would immediately be perceived as a Christian crusade against Muslims over the long term.

No, we should not pull out until the job is done. I know things are a mess in Iraq. But it would be wrong and unfair to the Iraqi people to abandon them at this point. We are committed to helping them. We cannot quit now!

People in the world do not understand how pulling out will cause a lot of deaths. Terrorists see this refusal to finish the job and keep going after the west.

Not only this, but that is not what he said. It was totally taken out of context.

in a war you can't change horses in mid-stream. you must "follow through and finish the job" as they say in the army. Hopefully the Iraqis will stop their tribal squabbling over who is going to get the oil and defend their country with some measure of competence. Maybe that's too much to ask since they are not used to making their own decisions. We'll know soon enough.

Yes. We are actually producing more terrorists by our actions in Iraq. We have all but destroyed that country. Get out now. Support the troops. Bring them home.

I'm in America, so here goes.....

I think it would be suicide to leave now. The area is ripe for a civil war. The Iraqi govt isn't ready to handle the situation on their own yet.

These people have been so suppressed, repressed, oppressed for so long that they don't know how to use their freedom wisely.
1) The general population needs to learn basic civics, learn that problems with insurgents (in US- gangs?) is a personal problem- it belongs to each of them. They are all responsible for contributing to the peace/unrest of their communities.
2) They need to learn that just because someone else makes a decision that affects their lives, that doesn't always mean it's a bad choice.
3) They need to learn to forgive, let by-gones be by-gones... this may be kinda difficult where it's a Christian teaching, maybe not necessarily a Muslim one.... (I don't know that much about Islam.)

In the area of living under a free govt, these people are really like little children or babies- they really don't know how to do it yet. Like good parents teach their kids to be wise, make good choices, then get them out of the nest-- we need to do the same for/with these people- Teach them to be wise, use their freedom wisely, then pull our military out, let them take over control of their own country.
