I have recently done this and the wireless card was already in my PC (its a dell ) but most makes are set up to go wireless if fairly recent-- same as laptops you need a router ( see e-bay for a cheap one ) and a wireless adaptor also see e-bay -- its quite easy to follow the on screen instructions off the user disc that comes with the router

Two things you'll need in order to make your Desktop PC wireless :
1. Wireless Network Adapter (a wireless network interface card)
2. Wireless Router
You'll fit a wireless network adapter in your Desktop PC, which will enable your PC to connect to the wireless router, which can be placed anywhere in your house.
Your wireless router will be connected to your internet connection, and will let you connect as many computers as you want, without any wires.
Hope that answers your question :)

a wireless router and adapter to your desktop and other computers in the house. Something like a dongle is good, there are many offers on at the moment for the complete package, but best going with recommendations, for good connectivity.

You need a wi-fi card for your computer and a wireless router. All should be easy to install.Thats it.
p.s get a laptop, take up less room, allready have wi-fi card, often as fast, and you can take them to coffee shops and use their connection while drinking nice real coffee.
