Well, he wouldn't... but if I ever had the chance to chat with Dubya, I would not presume to think that I could tell him anything that would be better than the planners and advisors he already has. But I would thank him for stepping into the job, and for putting himself on the line for the millions of Americans he serves.

Why would someone want to be President? Let's see:

- Mr. Bush is paid $400,000 per year (a lot to you and me, but his net worth is at minimum about $10M so it's NOT the money)
- the job is thankless - the President works even when he's on vacation. The position is on call 24 x 7
- Any President has constant attention from the media - it must be like living in a glass box
- Any President endures contstant criticism and blame from around the world
- The President has sole responsibility for some of the toughest decisions, choices that affect the lives of millions of people (and remember that even if he DOES NOT decide, that's still a decision). I would imagine that as President, a man learns about things he wishes he had never known. Ignorance IS bliss.
- Any President and his family must endure Secret Service protection from those who would cause bodily harm up to and including assassination. That's a pretty big risk to take with your family. Why would ANYONE subject themselves and their family to four or eight years of this?
- Has hundreds of people demanding some of his time each day. When does he get a chance to just sit and be still?

So why WOULD anyone want to be President? Maybe it's because they love their country, and they want to give something back. Because they want to to make a mark on history by trying to change things for the better. Maybe because they have a vision of a nation that can be more and better, and they want to try to achieve it.

Nobody comes into the job saying "Let's mess up America and then walk away".

So, Mr. Bush... thank you.

Get tougher with border security with Mexico. Put enough troops in Iraq and get the job done. Don't let Iraq turn into another Vietnam. Take the gloves off our troops and let them do their jobs. Anyone that would blow themselves up to kill innocent people are not people and don't treat them as such. Have the news media blackout and lets win this war. The public doesn't need to know what is happening over there except the news that we won. Freedom for those who want it and death to those who want it. Let the zealous religious idiots have their 72 virgins. Go with the silent majority not those vocal liberals who disgrace our great country by not standing behind you and our troops.

I would say, Mr. President, "We must secure our borders from within. We must pull out of Iraq as quickly as possible, because this 'war' is unwinnable. And, last of all, we must deport all illegal aliens who are draining the American economy and causing our crime rate to skyrocket. Thank you."

Leave now before you embarrass yourself and the rest of the country any further. Even Dick Cheney would be better than you.
