I was fearful of them and had a TRO against them. I forgive them but I feel trepidation in even thinking of being in their presence. I was told did I really forgive them because I don't socialize with them. What kind of Christian am I -I supposedly forgive them so therefore I should be okay being around them. They are relatives.

Forgiveness has nothing to do with not hanging with a certain person or group that did you harm. The person above me said it pretty well. Forgiveness is basically not taking action in the form of violence, harm, against the person/group who has harmed you (even though they might deserve it)!!! This is so true with many women who are in abusive relationships and their spouse throws a guilt trip saying if you forgiven me, you would take me back. Hog wash!!! If I'm walking down the street and I get robbed by this guy, and I end up walking down that same street and get robbed again, I would almost be asking for it if I walked down that same street, wouldn't I. I would take a different street, and by taking a different street doesn't mean that I haven't forgave the guy, it makes me wiser so I can live a more fulfilling life. You should have to live in fear, life is short enough...do good to everyone and live life the way you want to without hurting anyone and if they don't like you...then it is their LOST!!!

Sweetheart, just because you forgive them doesn't mean you have to mingle with them. Yes it is possible to forgive a person and not have any dealings with them. Just because you forgave them doesn't mean they want hurt you again. So you are doing whats right if you feel like they can't be trusted. The bible says in Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned: and avoid them. I hope this advice be of help to you.

No the Bible says in Matthew 10:16 " Behold I send you forth as sheep among wolves, be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. This means to be wary of those who might bring harm to you, but bring no harm to them.
