Car Seats:

The ones I would recomend are Britax Companion, Graco Snugride, and Graco Safeseat.

The Britax Companion is Rated #1 on Consumer reports. It is made in London and thus adhears to European standerds (they're a little bit higher then American standerds). The Car Seat can hold a child up to 22lbs or 30 inches long (whichever comes 1st). The actual carrier itself weighs about 10 lbs. The car seat has a rebound bar on it to avoid the cacooning of the child in a car accident.

The Graco Snugride is a very basic design. The carrier weighs 8 lbs and can hold a child up to 22 lbs or 29 inches long.

The Graco Safeseat just came out this year. It weighs 10 lbs but it can hold a child up to 30 lbs or 32 inches long which should get you at least through the first year (the other two will on average get you to about 9 months).

Some people like Evenflo infant car seats but I don't because I feel like the erganomic handle makes it harder to carry as the child get's heavier.

Monitor:

Avoid Fisher Price. They break a lot. I would say the Sony 900mhz 27 channel monitor. You will avoid a lot of interfearance.

Hope this info helps :-)

We use a Safety 1st baby monitor, and it works well. I've used the video camera ones and I really liked those. You can tell if the baby just moving around, or if it's actually awake without going in and waking it up, but it's not entirely easy to move from room to room. As far as a carseat, the only one I don't reccomend is the PegPergo. I've used it as a nanny with 2 different babies and I HATED it both times. It's really small so once the baby gets to be more than 3months or so they get really cramped, and the fabric that lines the seats makes the baby sweat, and if it's cold out then it makes them colder because they're sweating. You can't use anything to line it with either because the car seat is too small, and according to the manufacturer's instructions it's not okay to do so. Plus the stroller it fits into is really complicated and not just a one hand thing to use. I thought that for the money you pay it's just not worth it. Honestly if it was the cheapest I still wouldn't use it. I've used plenty of others and never had an issue, but I'd stronly suggest you looking into other carseats. Good luck!

My favorite is by Graco. I bought it from Sears Canada. The stroller comes with a seat for newborns. You then put a base in the car for the baby. When you go out you simply pull out the seat from the car and place it on the stroller. You never have to take out the baby. If the baby is asleep he/she will stay sleeping. The quality is great and the convenience is wonderful. If you live somewhere where it gets cold. You dont have to bundle up the baby. Just get a insert you put right on the seat and zip up over the baby and you are done. Simple and easy, what every mom needs.

Evenflo is the ONY brand of car seat I will use. I don't care what the ratings say, I can tell you for a fact that my son's Evenflo Discovery infant seat saved his life when he was 8 weeks old!
I was in a bad car accident in July, and he and my 12-yr-old daughter were with me. My car was totalled, I am STILL recovering from injuries including a fractured calcaneus and distal fibula, I am not able to walk yet and am about to have a second surgery on my foot to remove the metal plate that was inserted in the first surgery. My daughter suffered bruises and abrasions, but the baby came out of it w/o so much as a scratch! He was strapped into his seat in the back, rear-facing, and even slept through the whole ordeal! That car seat was replaced as recommended (with an identical model) , even though it appeared to have no damage, but my son has since gotten a little big for it. We upgraded him to the Evenflo Triumph DLX Fairview convertible seat, and LOVE it! It is snug and secure and even resembles a baby-sized easy chair! It's very comfortable, attractive, and has wonderful features and adjustments.

As for monitors, we use the Evenflo Whisper Connect and it's great! I can hear every sound my baby makes. The receiver has a clip on it so I can carry it around and even works outside.

Yeah, I'm sold on Evenflo.. but after all we went though, who wouldn't be?

There are a lot of really good ones out there. I would make sure the monitor is al least a 900 megahertz or better with two receivers. As for the car seat - make sure it fits in your vehicle before you make your final choice. I like the ones with the base, but there are many great ones out there. You can sometimes ask your insurance company or the Police if they have a crash ratings on the ones you are thinking of.

I'm not sure about the baby monitor, but for the car seat I would recommend the Fisher- Price car seat. It is made by Britax (a top of the line car seat manufacture) and I'm not for sure about the infant seat, but the convertible seat is about $100.00 cheaper then the Britax model.

Evenflo Monitor & Intercom is the best in my opinion! As for a carseat...that all depends on that you want. Do you want an infant carseat, or a birth to 40lbs carseat? I recommend an infant carseat at first....I loved the Britax and also the Graco Snugride. Here is a link to consumer Reports so you can take a look:

I LOVE the Graco Snugride, and I know many people that have it. I got mine at www.elitecarsears.com with no tax and free shipping.

If you live in an apartment or an area that is very populated you should get a baby monitor with alot of channels. We live in a very congested area and use the Sony 27 channel monitor. It works great with no interference and has a voice activation option that helps conserve energy. We got ours at Babies R Us.

Carseats made by Britax have better safety ratings than Evenflo or Graco. They do cost more though!

As for baby monitors, I prefer the Sony baby monitor, I forget the exact name of it, but they sell it at BabiesRUs.com

babies that are rear dealing with could desire to have the shoulder straps under or at their shoulders. My son became born 7 lbs 9 oz..and we had a graco comfortable trip, and his could desire to straps have been for the period of the backside holes, so i'm specific that's the place yours will must be. My toddler seat in basic terms had 2 shoulder strap positions, I moved his up whilst he became approximately 4 months old. He in basic terms became 7 months, and not suits in his toddler seat, I in basic terms offered him a convertible. suited of success and Congrats
