I have already lifted out the inner sliding door, but it's the outer door that I'm having trouble with. I've removed what screws I thought would let the door be removed however, it's not. Can I please get a diagram?

Bit beyond my competence I'm afraid. Maybe this site would help. http://www.handymanusa.com/questions/sliderq.html. This is the bit that caught my eye:

Examining Sliding Door

What is a proven step by step method to remove a large/heavy sliding glass door so I can see why it doesn't slide?

Your sliding glass doors have roller adjustments on them. Depending on the manufacturer they can be on the sides of the frame or on the bottom rail of the door.
Generally, you take a screwdriver to raise or lower the door for maximum slide ability/squareness/etc..
This may be the problem, just raising or lowering the rollers so that the door operates freely...It is also the method used to remove the sliding door. Lower the rollers all the way then lift the door from the bottom and swing the bottom out over the track.

If the problem is with the rollers themselves and this an an old door (over 15 years) its most often better to replace the doors than to try to fix the rollers.

Often they have stamped on them the manufactures name so you can check out the manufacturer or a company that installs that brand for hints on cleaning etc.

I agree with the lady. Why remove it? Unless it`s and operating panel, there`s nothing to clean but the glass. Or if it`s a wood interior finished panel that needs re finished, you`re still covered. Just a tip: your main maintenance concern on SGD`s is keeping the track clean. DON`T use WD40 or any petroleum based lubricants on it. The collect grit that will ruin your rollers and eventually your track. I use silicone spray.

I've never heard of any one wanting to remove the door to clean it most people vaccum any dirt or wash it with a hose. the outer door may be stuck if it's been there for a long time, try tapping it with a dead blow hammer to loosen it up if you really need to remove it. good luck................
