Toshiba. its expensive, but its worth. Its not THE best, but its the best that i've come accross. it lasts the longest and has the least malfunctions. Compaq has a history of losing its LCD's quickly. Sony is expensive and many ppl assume its the best but really, sony isnt that great at making laptops. They're good at other electronics but laptops are just not their thing. I've just heard all these things from a futureshop expert. HP is alright, its affordable, but not the greatest. Fujitsu is good as well (however you spell it), its a high tech japanese brand, they're tiny and sturdy.
Dell is best for support. They make it however you want, and you get tonnes of support throughout anytime you have problems with your laptop. They look pretty nice as well.
