Yes, during the war against communism. The US didn't want Russian expansion, and Osama didn't want religious and ethnic persecution of his Islamic brothers. Osama is a Saudi.
His freedom fighters were called the Mujhaddin, but when the Russians gave up and retreated, the CIA did not give the Afghani people the financial aid they had promised them. Gorbachev was in power in Russia, communism there was coming to an end under Glasnost & Perestroika, so the US didn't think it was worth the money.
Afghans people were taken over by drug baron warlords (the kind that have afflicted Central America) who oppressed the people, made them farm opium poppies, and killed Afghanis for sport. Osama raised a second troop to free Afghanistan from these evil pariahs, and did so, The Taleban as they were called when in political power, banned opium poppy growing and attempted to bring stability and hence economic growth. Osama never forgave the US authorities for their betrayal of the Afghanis, and hence Al-Qaeeda. Strange being attacked by people trained and equipped by your own CIA. Almost ironic!
Today, the same drugs warlords hold power in most of Afghanistan, and the US government funds them, Opium is again Afghans largest export, and the street price of hard drugs across Europe has plummetted, making it affordable for most kids pocket money. Thank you America.

Your giving Osama to much credit.
The Mujaheddin were given support. Osama was actually more of a medical aid liaison channeling US and Saudi funds to care for Afghan fighters wounded during the Russian occupation.
It was not until the Russians left that the Muslim Brotherhood approached Osama. Al Zawahiri, (a life long member of the Brotherhood) is thought to be the one that radicalized Osama. And could easily be the stronger of the two

Terrorist;to the U. S. and is allies. He could not combat the powerful US using its militia means, all he did became inflicting some casualties. Why did he hated US lots?the reason being he became disillusioned with the way US preserve the middle east cricis which looks to favour Israel.US could desire to apply its means to tame Israel. Many UN resolutions against Israel became vetoed by using US.many international locations are definitely symphaties with the Palestinians regrettably they don't look to be powerful sufficient to make issues replaced. A Freedom Fighter:to his people. He needed justice for the Muslim international.lamentably he did it in the incorrect way.

Yes, they helped to create them. But, they are creating more and more with each day with our policies in the Mid-east. Osama is just a small part of terrorism. They are all over the Mid-east, the far east, etc.,.
Haven't you heard the statement that with every terrorist killed George W. creates 5 to take his place? Believe it!

Did France create American terrorist when they funded American colonies to fight the English?
What you do with the funding depends on you. Not on the funder.

Create them? Attacking us was the idea of Osama and others. Giving them weapons, none of which work anymore is something they could've gotten many places.
