My mom become born in 1910 and had 5 sisters. they could purchase white fabric and decrease it in products, that must be folded and pinned to their underclothes. After getting used they could be washed in lye cleansing soap and bleached, refolded and used lower back, like fabric diapers. whilst i become a woman, pads did no longer persist such as your underclothes. We had elastic issues that went around our hips with a clasp on a chew of elastic in front and lower back that hung down. The pads had strips on each end and you may hook the strips to the clasps to hold them in place. wish this helps..

They did not have tampons, so they made pads basically out of cloth. many would just lie in bed until they were finished menstrauting as to not get blood eveywhere.
