For Halloween I'm planning one being a Geisha. Does anybody know of any place that I can purchase a vintage kimono on the web? Also, I'm thinking of wearing a blue or red kimono. What kind of shoes would go best? Like flip-flops or what?

If you don't find a vintage kimono (which would be really expensive!) you can make your own geisha costume. There are a lot of places that sell long silk bathrobes with Japanese or Chinese prints on them. Buy a long, narrow silk shawl that contrasts with the robe and use it as the "obi" which is a very wide belt. Your make-up should be white, with pink eye shadow, black eye-liner and red lips. Put your hair up, and use some silk flowers and/or laquered chopsticks in your hair. Have fun!

Not sure of any good sights besides the normal specialty halloween costume sights for a kimono, but as for shoes....aim for platform flip flops. I just went to the local walmart and saw a black pair for 5 bucks!

I went to Target today and they have a nice Geisha costume. Target actaully has good quality costumes check them out!
