First shipment was before Raygun Then more in the mid 80's
As for the Kurds The dead Kurds are now becoming as rare as WMD's
OH many got killed don't get me wrong. But those 180,000 numbers are as wacko as the Mushroom Cloud over America.
The bottom line on this is in the Iran hostage crisis. The CIA gave Saddam material support to attack Iran. The Kurds joined Iran and became enemies of Iraq.

They were afraid of another radical islamic uprising occuring in Iraq, like what happened udring Iranian revolution. It is the same reason why Reagan backed Saddam during the Iran-Iraq war from 1980-1988. It was a bad idea I know.

They gave them to ward off Iran. Remember, Iran had our hostages. Iran has always been a pain in the butt. History is full of nation giving nation weapons to achieve a certain goal. Every since WW2. And Kitty, Bush Sr. didn't go after Saddam because Americans were saying don't let our soldiers get killed. He wanted too, but he listened to the people. The whole world was with Bush Jr. to go after him. Changed their mind later.

Reagan and Bush wanted to rid Iraq of the Kurds.
They just used Saddam for thir dirty-work.
Now that he's done their bidding they're done with him he's of no use to them anymore.
These are typical Nazi tactics.
